I have your blood inside my heart

I was in a car accident on Monday. The most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me, the car racing along at 110km/h on a motorway bounced off one car and slammed into the cement divider, rolling and rolling. The moment of impact is all I can see when I close my eyes, red light on red skin, blinding pain, smoke filling the contracting space in almost slow motion and the complete certainty that after all the wondering at what death would be like, there's no time to even consider there's just certainty that this is it. Just a voice saying, "Prepare yourself, don't even dare close your eyes." Suddenly stopping with wide eyes looking anywhere but at who was next to me, because I. Just. Can't. It stained my skin purple. It stained all my thoughts with fear. It stained my peaceful self confidence with panic and shaking limbs. It'll be a few days till I'm on my feet again.

Come together

Congratulations America, it's been a long time coming. I've been quietly confident for some months now that this amazing feat would come about and that having a point of view would become more than just a useless, pointless exercise in frustration. The last eight years have been horrific but the sun is shining again. It's going to be difficult to undo all the bad that's been done, but I've never seen such an intelligent, well spoken and, most inportantly, level headed politician in all my life and I have no doubt that 'yes we can'.

It isn't the first time he's made me cry, he pulls my cynicism and apathy completely to pieces. If you haven't seen this yet, then you must:

Daily routine

[Aliki Braine]

Today, I received some encouraging news that my hard work [combined with, I'll admit, a pretty big c.b.fed attitude] might have paid off. On the same day of course I received two detentions for bunking off, etc. Oh well, one jump forward, two steps back.
I think next year I'm just going to read books, listen to music and write a bit, i.e. do a B. of Arts. I need to relax and just enjoy learning again.

[from You & Me]

Here's a song for the new year hurtling towards us, or dragging slowly, or dawning with promise but apprehension, we're leaving everything behind with a shout, stamp and howl to the clear sky. We won.
